Getting to the Isle of Wight is simplicity itself, with a choice of four different departure points on the mainland, six different routes across the Solent and literally hundreds of crossings every day throughout the Summer - making the Isle of Wight ideal for coach tour and short break holidays alike.
All four ferry terminals are easily reached from the M27, which links into the major trunk roads and motorways serving the West Country, the Home Counties, London, the Midlands and North - and each of the terminals is conveniently close to a railway station, for those travelling by train.
Car ferries operate from Lymington to Yarmouth (Wightlink), Southampton to East Cowes (Red Funnel) and Portsmouth to Fishbourne (Wightlink), with additional passenger only services provided by high speed catamarans and hovercraft from Southampton to Cowes and Portsmouth or Southsea to Ryde.
Once you're on the Island, getting out and about is just as easy and convenient.
If you've brought your own car or motorbike, you'll soon rediscover the real pleasures of motoring - quieter roads, friendlier drivers, plenty of places for petrol and plenty of time to admire and enjoy everything you discover along the way.
If you've left the car behind, you can take advantage of the comprehensive Southern Vectis service, with buses to take you to all the major towns and resorts, as well as numerous villages, leisure attractions, places of interest and sightseeing tours.
If you prefer, you can hire a car or minibus - or a bike ride if you'd like to explore all the leafy lanes and byways at your leisure - an there's even a railway link between Ryde and Shanklin, with six appealing places to stop along the line.
